A Very Busy Weekend!

We had a very busy weekend! Erik had Saturday and Sunday off from work, so we had planned on getting a lot of house work done before my mom came on Monday to visit. However, as most weekends go, we found other, more exciting and fun things to do with our time. On Saturday afternoon we took Maida to our first dog wedding! A local pet store down town had a competition similar to the famous TV show “The Bachelor” where a select few of female dogs tried to win the heart of a male bachelor dog. Our friend Brittany’s dog Lily (pictured to the left) was one of the finalists. So we went to cheer Lily on during the final “Rose Ceremony”. Lily didn’t win, but we enjoyed watching two dogs get married anyway! It was quite interesting, especially since while we were standing there watching the wedding, there was a shooting across the street!! We heard the gun shot and then police cars, fire trucks, and an ambulance all came zooming in. I took pictures! We couldn’t believe it. We had a great time and Maida really enjoyed her first puppy wedding… she slept the whole time! Here is a picture of the bride, groom, Maida, and the shooting...

On Saturday evening we went to see a community musical at an outdoor theater in Eden Prairie with some friends. We got there early and had a picnic and then enjoyed the musical in the beautiful weather we had. Maida enjoyed her first musical, especially since her friend Claire was there too! Afterwards some of the actors came and told us that they loved looking up at us in the audience during the performance and watching our babies, the youngest audience they’d had!! On Sunday after church we went out to eat with the Croft's to the Cheesecake Factory. It was such good food and really big portions. While we were there, we ran into a long-time friend Tasha! It was great to see her and fun to show her Maida. After lunch we celebrated Father’s Day by taking a nap and then taking a walk down the street to Dairy Queen. Barkley! came with us and we ate our ice cream outside. It was so fun to be together as our own little family. Maida and I bought Erik two games for Father’s Day. One was “Catch Phrase,” a game he’s been wanting for a while now. I think that he enjoyed his presents and his first Father’s Day with his new daughter.
