Here are some pictures from when Ashley was here! We took Ashley to Lester Park in Duluth where we explored some waterfalls. It was cold (especially since I got all wet playing in the water) but it was beautiful. And, as always, Maida loved being outside. She stayed in her backpack the entire time, just as smiley as ever! Ashley left on Saturday and we miss her already. We tried to talk her into moving to Minnesota, but those Texas girls really love the south!!!

Grandma Kinkel came to visit last weekend and bought us some curtains for our place. We just had bare windows before and the curtains really jazz it up by adding some color to our bare walls. She also helped babysit Maida while I cleaned up after having company, and also during our meeting with the army recruiters. If you haven't heard, Erik has decided to join the Army National Guard to help pay for medical school. We have been debating this for over three months now and after a lot of prayer and thought, we decided that it would be the best for our family. We could continue to use prayers about it, though. We'll keep you informed and updated on when Erik will swear in and become an official soldier.
On Tuesday Maida, Barkley, and I followed Grandma back to Park Rapids where we've been hanging out for the past couple days. It's been a very nice mini-vacation as my mom waits on us hand and foot! We are going back today, just in time for a couple Halloween parties next week. We miss Daddy so much! Maida has talked to him on the phone a couple times, but I know that she wonders where in the world he is. She'll just look around sometimes with a blank and worried look on her face and I just wonder if she's trying to find her Daddy.
