BLIZZARD WARNING 7PM TONIGHT THROUGH 7 AM SATURDAY
A BLIZZARD WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR SOUTHERN ST. LOUIS COUNTY, CARLTON COUNTY, AND DOUGLAS COUNTY FROM 7PM TONIGHT THROUGH 7AM SATURDAY MORNING. A WINTER STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR SURROUNDING AREAS FROM 7PM THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH 7AM SATURDAY MORNING.
A massive low pressure system, covering literally half the United States is charging northward, and will dominate our weather for the next two days. A mixture of rain and snow will turn to all snow, as it covers the Northland after 6pm on Thursday evening. Winds off Lake Superior have been gusting to 40mph throughout the day on Thursday, and they will increase to as much as 55mph overnight Thursday into Friday. Expect snow totals overnight Thursday of 6 to 10 inches, creating whiteout conditions over the entire area.
On Friday, an additional 4 to 8 inches of snowfall is likely, for a storm total of 10 to 18 inches. Travel throughout the Northland will become extremely difficult and dangerous during this period. If at all possible, stay home.

wowzers...man, I thought of you way up there when I heard the forecast for today and tomorrow here and then mentioned up north there'd be up to 16" of snow?? wow I should NOT complain about the rain/snow mix we have going on right now! let us know if you "survive"! :)
